What Do Coaches Do? Part 2
Here are five more ways a coach can help their clients. Underlying this idea is recognizing that ‘coaching’ is a generic term. These concepts are more specific actions.
6. A coach can be an alarm clock alerting their client that it’s time to do something.
7. A coach can be a beacon by shining a light on some potential event. That is, adding a deeper perspective that the client may not see on their own.
8. From time to time a coach will offer a helping hand to their clients. This will happen, for example, when a coach is acting in a shadowing capacity working alongside their client.
9. Sometimes a coach will be a director – giving their client step by step instructions on how to do some task.
10. A coach can help their clients push the envelop, firstly by helping them identify actions that would be new and potentially risky and secondly by guiding them through the action steps needed.
