Networks Build Momentum Exponentially

If you are on the upswing in your life your network is one of your most valuable assets. Future success will be a function of how robust your network is and what you do to make it productive. Your network will grow exponentially as long as you keep at it. Here’s the idea.
Say you’re 25 and have five good people in your network. Good, meaning people who you want to be in your network for the long term. These may be people you met in university or in your first job.
If you assume each of those people also have networks of five people your total network is 25 because you can access each others’ network or at least get introduced, if you ask.
Fast forward 10 years of network building. Lets say you now have 50 ‘good’ people in your network because you’ve added one new good contact roughly every three months. And, let’s say, that each of your original 5 have done the same. The total network you now have access to is 2,500 [50 x 50].
Let’s say now at the age of 35 you want to change careers. What luck that you have 2,500 people in your network. That allows for a great deal of momentum from the exponential growth of your key asset.
How much networking do you have to do to add one new good contact every three months?
